Members of the Jazira Women’s Coordination visited several institutions on Saturday, including the Executive Council, the Democratic Peoples’ Council, and the Social Justice Council, on the occasion of International Women’s Day (March 8), according to a post published by the Women’s Authority on its page on the social media platform Facebook.

During the visits, several discussions were held focusing on the situation of women and their legal and social rights, as well as the importance of strengthening these rights within legislation and laws. Participants also emphasized the need to include these rights in the new constitution to ensure the protection of women’s achievements and strengthen their role in political, social, and economic fields.

The Women’s Coordination stressed that women have played a prominent role in the path of struggle and community-building and have made great sacrifices for freedom and justice. It said this requires recognition of their role and guarantees for their constitutional rights in order to reinforce the principle of equality and promote the values of democracy and justice in society.

At the end of the visits, members of the coordination presented symbolic gifts to the institutions they visited, in appreciation of women’s role and their continued struggle for freedom and equality.
