Use of Syrian pound in transactions involving petrol products in Syria

The Syrian Interim Government has accepted the proposal of the Standing Committee for the Determination of Prices for Petrol Products and Mineral Resources to use the Syrian pound in the sale of all petrol products and their derivatives inside the country.

The Ministry of Energy in the Syrian Interim Government, Muhammad al-Bashir, has accepted the proposal of the Standing Committee for the Determination of Prices for Petrol Products and Mineral Resources to use the Syrian pound in the sale of all petrol products and their derivatives inside Syrian territory, with effect from now on.

The announcement of the minister was made following the first session of the Standing Committee for Determination of Prices of Petroleum Products and Mineral Resources, where the process of pricing of petroleum products was discussed along with the local and international elements affecting the price of the products such as prices abroad, cost, exchange rate of the Syrian pound, and economic indices of the energy sector.

The committee stated that the adoption of the Syrian pound in the sale process is intended to guarantee the stability of transactions related to the oil derivatives sector.
