US senator sends warning message to Erdogan about attacking NE Syria

Republican U.S. Senator John Neely Kennedy said, "Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hates the Kurds, but leave them alone."

Republican U.S. Senator John Nelly Kennedy noted during a congressional hearing, "As you know, Mr. President, the Kurds are a wonderful people, estimated at 30-40 million Kurds, who are present in Turkey, Iran, Northern Iraq and Syria."

He focused on the SDF's role in eliminating ISIS, adding: "They defeated ISIS and destroyed the caliphate, and they are responsible for destroying ISIS. We have lost about 20 Americans in the fight against ISIS in the Middle East, but our Kurdish friends have lost more than 10,000 people, and more than 13,000 Kurds have been wounded in the war against ISIS."

"Mr. Erdogan doesn't like the Kurds, and I won't comment on this, but Erdogan has armed groups and tanks on the border between Turkey and Syria, and our intelligence says Erdogan is trying to invade Syria," Kennedy noted.

Addressing his message to Erdogan: "My message today is Leave the Kurds alone, leave the citizens of Syria alone. Turkey is a member of NATO and they are our friends, but they don't act accordingly."

"If you invade Syria and touch a hair of the Kurds, I will ask this Congress to do something, and our sanctions will not help Turkey's economy. Leave the Kurds alone."
