The United States has ordered its non-essential diplomatic staff and their family members to leave the consulate in Adana, southern Turkey, and suspended consular services due to “security risks.”

The U.S. Department of State announced today the suspension of consular services in southern Turkey and ordered non-essential diplomatic staff to leave the region “due to security risks.”

In a statement published through the department’s official accounts, it said:

“On March 9, 2026, the Department of State ordered non-essential U.S. government employees and their family members to depart the Consulate General in Adana due to security risks.”

The consulate has also suspended all its services.
