UN calls for peace after PKK Congress

The European Commission welcomed the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK)’s decision to end its armed struggle, describing it as a positive step towards launching a peace process and finding a political solution to the Kurdish issue.

The European Commission announced its support for the resolutions of the PKK Congress, considering them a positive move towards achieving peace in the region.

Commission spokesperson Anwar Al-Anouni stated, “The European Union believes that launching a credible peace process aimed at finding a political solution to the Kurdish issue would represent a positive step toward achieving a peaceful and lasting resolution.”

The PKK made the announcement during its 12th Congress, today, where it decided to end the armed struggle and all activities carried out in the name of the party, declaring that it had “fulfilled its historic mission.”
