UAE condemns attacks targeting its mission in Damascus

The United Arab Emirates condemned what it described as acts of vandalism, unrest, and assaults targeting its diplomatic mission and the residence of its head of mission in Damascus, calling on the Syrian authorities to protect the embassy and hold those responsible accountable.

Today, the United Arab Emirates denounced what it described as acts of sabotage, unrest, and attacks targeting its diplomatic mission and the residence of its head of mission in Damascus.

In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said:
“The United Arab Emirates expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the acts of unrest, attempted vandalism of property, and attacks that targeted its mission headquarters and the residence of the head of mission in the Syrian capital, Damascus. It also affirmed its rejection and denunciation of the unacceptable offenses against the nation’s symbols.”

The UAE called on Syria to fulfill its obligations to secure the embassy and its staff, to investigate the circumstances of these attacks, to ensure they are not repeated in the future, and to take the necessary legal measures to hold those responsible accountable.

Videos circulating on social media showed protesters gathered outside the embassy.
