“Leader’s birth marks beginning of struggle for freedom, resolution of Kurdish issue”

Today, residents of the cities of al-Hasakah and Dêrik commemorated the birthday of leader Abdullah Ocalan, observed on April 4, under the slogan: “April 4 is the day of the birth of women’s freedom and a democratic society.”

Participants carried photos of Abdullah Ocalan, wore traditional Kurdish clothing, and chanted: “Long live Leader APO” and “No life without the leader.”

Al-Hasakah

The celebration in al-Hasakah began with a minute of silence, followed by a speech delivered by Kongra Star member Jiyan Dêrik, who congratulated Abdullah Ocalan on his birthday and affirmed that “the leader’s birth marks the beginning of the struggle for freedom and the resolution of the Kurdish issue.”

She emphasized that “Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s aspiration is being realized on this day through Kurdish unity and the securing of its rights via democratic integration in Rojava, thanks to the sacrifices of thousands of martyrs.”

Jiyan Dêrik also noted that the thought and philosophy of Ocalan opened the way for women to fulfill their roles through decades of struggle and resistance in various arenas.

She concluded her speech by affirming that this day will become a day of unity among peoples, and that they will not allow this unity to be undermined.

For her part, the co-chair of the Democratic Union Party office in al-Hasakah, Zahra Ali, congratulated Abdullah Ocalan’s birthday, addressing freedom-seeking peoples gathered under one roof.

She affirmed that “the birth of Leader Ocalan is a day of rebirth for all humanity and a symbol of freedom and dignity.”

She pointed out that Ocalan’s philosophy has formed a roadmap for the liberation of oppressed peoples and has become a beacon of democratic thought that has achieved brotherhood among peoples and coexistence among diverse religious and cultural communities.

She also highlighted the central role this philosophy has given to women, enabling them to carry out their revolution in Rojava and actively participate in various fields.

Afterward, the groups Zilan, Koma Stêrk, Martyr Ronahi Bawer, and Martyr Tolhildan presented artistic and musical performances.

The celebration concluded with performances by male and female artists who presented a collection of revolutionary and national songs, accompanied by traditional circle dances (dabke).

Dêrik

In the city of Dêrik, Kongra Star organized a celebration today at the indoor Corniche stadium, with the participation of hundreds of residents, members of service institutions, and internal security forces.

The event began with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs, followed by a speech from Autonomous Administration advisor Hassan Kocher, who stated that the birth of Abdullah Ocalan represents the birth of a free and resistant human being.

He stressed that any targeting of him is a direct targeting of the Kurdish people and their will.

Kocher also criticized media outlets attempting to undermine Kurdish symbols, affirming that the people will hold accountable anyone who targets the leader and his freedom.

The celebration concluded with artistic performances by the groups Feteriya and Avashin, who performed revolutionary and national songs that the audience engaged with through traditional circle dances.
