Two separate attacks on Internal Forces by ISIS mercenary cells

The Internal Security Forces were subjected to targeting operations by ISIS mercenary cells in two different locations within the areas of the North and East Syria region, which led to the martyrdom of one of the forces’ members, amid the security forces’ confirmation of the continuation of combing, searching and investigating operations to combat the mercenary cells that have become active in conjunction with the escalation of the Turkish occupation’s attacks on the region.

The Internal Security Forces in the North and East of Syria region revealed that its security forces in the city of Qamishlo and the main road linking the cities of Tal Hamis and al-Hol were targeted by ISIS mercenary cells, in a statement published on its official websites, which stated:

"Statement on the targeting of ISIS cells in light of the attacks of Turkish-backed mercenaries against our safe areas:

In light of the sensitive circumstances that our regions are going through, and amid the continued attacks that North and East Syria are being subjected to by various hostile parties, our security forces have been subjected to several terrorist attacks during the past hours.

After midnight yesterday, Tuesday, December 31, terrorist cells affiliated with ISIS targeted a checkpoint in the village of al-Zanoud in the city of Qamishlo. These cells threw hand grenades at the checkpoint while our forces were carrying out their regular duty in maintaining security, which caused material damage without recording any injuries or martyrs among the ranks our forces. Immediately, our forces began a large-scale combing operation in the area to track down the perpetrators.

In a related context, a member of the ISIS terrorist organization targeted the Iskenderun Checkpoint located on the road between the cities of al-Hol and Tal Hamis. This targeting resulted in the martyrdom of a member of the Hamaat Jazira Forces while performing his duty in defending the security and stability of the region.

It is worth noting that these attacks come at a time when our regions are being subjected to simultaneous attacks by the mercenaries of the Turkish occupation state on most of our regions, which proves the existence of high-level coordination between the ISIS terrorist cells and the mercenary factions, in an attempt to undermine the stability of the region and weaken the resistance of our people.

Our forces are continuing their combing and search operations to arrest the perpetrators and hold them accountable. We assure our people of our steadfast commitment to defending their security and stability no matter how severe the challenges are.
