Two roads open to cars in Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh

Vehicle movement to the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh in the city of Aleppo has been limited to only two out of seven roads, as a result of the ongoing blockade imposed by transitional government forces. The two open routes are the Sheihan Roundabout Road and the Al-Awarid Road.

In addition, pedestrians are allowed to cross through three routes: Ashrafieh Ascent, Al-Jazira, and Ashrafieh Park, along with the two aforementioned roads.

Meanwhile, the Lairamoun Roundabout and Jandoul Roundabout roads remain completely closed. These are primarily industrial routes, and their closure has had a negative impact on economic activity in both neighborhoods.

ANHA correspondent in Aleppo observed that factions affiliated with the transitional government are preventing civilian vehicles from passing through the Al-Jazira checkpoint, and are deliberately obstructing traffic, in what appears to be a new measure tightening restrictions on civilians.

Local sources also reported that these factions are creating multiple obstacles for people attempting to reach other neighborhoods in Aleppo, including intensified searches of civilians’ belongings and strict identity checks.

It is worth noting that the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh were subjected to attacks by factions affiliated with the transitional government on the 22nd of this month, using various types of weapons, including tanks and missiles. The attacks resulted in the injury of 19 civilians and the killing of Fadwa Mohammad Al-Kurdi (57 years old).
