Today, the Internal Security Forces in Aleppo issued a statement announcing the martyrdom of two of their members in the transitional government’s attacks on the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods. The statement read:

“Our comrade Nuri Mustafa Gijikli was martyred on October 6 while performing his duties in defending the residents of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods. Comrade Nuri Hamoukan sustained severe injuries in the same clashes and was martyred on October 10.

Our comrades joined the resistance and confronted the assault of armed groups as members of the Internal Security Forces in Aleppo with courage and attained the rank of martyrdom.

At a time when our entire region is witnessing a significant transformation, our forces in Aleppo are actively working to ensure the safety and stability of our people and the region. Since the beginning of the crises in the area and the fall of the Baath regime, a new path toward peace has opened for our country and people. Although our forces remain committed to the agreements between the Autonomous Administration and the Damascus authorities, the armed groups affiliated with the latter continue to violate these agreements. They have recently been raising barriers around the Kurdish neighborhoods in Aleppo to besiege our people. When our people rose against this on the sixth of this month, these groups attacked civilians. Our forces confronted them to protect the residents, resulting in the martyrdom of two of our comrades in this resistance.

Our comrade Nuri Mustafa was born in Aleppo to a patriotic family. He joined the Internal Security Forces at the beginning of the revolution in 2014 and dedicated eleven years to protecting his people. He actively participated in numerous battles and campaigns, played a leadership role in defending the residents of Aleppo, and upheld the values and dignity of his people, earning an unmatched position.

Similarly, our comrade Nuri Hamoukan was born to a patriotic family in Afrin. He wished to be part of revolutionary work in his youth and joined the Internal Security Forces in 2012 for this purpose, engaging in great struggles throughout.

We in the leadership of the Internal Security Forces commemorate, through our two martyred comrades, all our martyrs of the revolution. We extend our condolences to the families of the martyrs and pledge to honor the efforts and sacrifices of our martyrs by fulfilling their wish to ensure the freedom of their people.”
