On the 18th of this April, coinciding with the 19th anniversary of the founding of the Kurdistan Women’s Union, a Turkish occupation state drone targeted a car in the village of Owiniki, located in the eastern countryside of Kobani, resulting in the serious injury of Halima Muhammad Othman and her husband, Mustafa Othman.

In this context, the women of Kobani canton spoke to ANHA's agency and condemned the attacks of the Turkish occupation state and stressed that they will not remain silent about these attacks.

The administrator of the Women’s Council of the Democratic Union Party in the Euphrates Canton, Sarah Khalil, pointed out that the Turkish occupation state is targeting female leaders everywhere and said: “On the 19th anniversary of the founding of the Kurdistan Women’s Union, the Turkish occupation state once again targeted a civilian car. The Turkish state is afraid from the strength and will of the hardworking woman, so you target her."

Sarah Khalil continued her speech: “The Turkish state targeted Halima and her husband while they were visiting their relatives, and Halima was working to solve problems day and night. The Turkish state targets the women’s movement based on the project of leader Abdullah Ocalan, and we affirm that we will prevail with the will of women.”

"They fear women's will"

The co-chair of the Kobani City Council, Leyla Ahmed, highlighted the attacks of the Turkish occupation state, especially on women, and said: “The Turkish occupation state fears leading women and those working in women’s institutions who have pledged to build women’s organizations, so it targets them.”

The co-chair of the local will of the Euphrates Canton, Falak Youssef, said: “The Turkish state targets pioneer women who lead society, because it is against free women, equality and justice in society and it is afraid of the project started by leader Abdullah Ocalan and the Rojava Revolution.”

Falak Youssef touched on the silence of the international community regarding the attacks of the Turkish occupation state, and said: “All organizations that consider themselves defenders of human rights remain silent regarding the violations of the Turkish occupation state, and let the Turkish state know that it will not be able to break the will of women and undermine their power no matter what it does.”

Kongra Star member, Bakira Sinjar, explained that the goal of the Turkish state is to eliminate the will of women, and she said: “Women can never be eliminated, and they will engage in all fields more day after day. Women have become a thorn stuck in the eye of the enemy, and women who are focused on the thought and philosophy of Leader Abdullah Ocalan are pioneers that advance society.”
