The Afrin-Syria Human Rights Organization reported from local sources that the “Bir al-Tall” archaeological site, which is located between the villages of (Chitka - Hasiya Mirkan - Kakhera) in the Mabata district of the occupied Afrin countryside, is being violated by mercenaries of the so-called "Syrian National army" affiliated with the Turkish occupation, especially the "Al-Amshat" mercenaries, led by the mercenary "Mohammed Al-Jassem", nicknamed "Abu Amsha".

According to the sources, excavation operations at the site have been carried out using heavy machinery “bulldozers” for approximately ten days in search of treasures and archaeological finds, and that the archaeological site “Bir al-Tall” is located between a cherry, walnut and apple owned by the citizen “Fawzi Chitka”, and excavation operations are taking place on the northern side of the hill.

The sources also confirmed that the citizen, “Fawzi,” had suffered a stroke and is now bedridden in his home, after the Al-Amshat mercenaries vandalized his orchard as a result of digging, shoveling soil, and uprooting trees, without him being able to deter them and stop them from causing material damage to his orchard.

On March 31, 2022, the Afrin Antiquities Directorate published on its pages a report on the crimes of the Turkish occupation in the archaeological hill of "Bir al-Tall", accompanied by several photographs and a video documenting the violation on the hill.
