In a statement, the HPG Media Center revealed the toll of attacks during the past month of March, stating:

“Our party, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), declared a ceasefire on March 1, 2025, in response to the historic call of Leader Apo. On the same day, our leadership at the People's Defense Center issued instructions to all our main forces, specially deployed sacrificial teams, independent units, and self-defense units in Turkey and North Kurdistan to adhere to the ceasefire decision and act accordingly. All our forces have complied with these instructions issued by our party and leadership.

March also coincided with the holy month of Ramadan, which is considered sacred in the Islamic world. Despite our forces' stance and our party’s decision to cease fire, the oppressive and colonial Turkish state, along with the fascist government of the Justice and Development Party (AKP), continued their attacks against North Kurdistan and the Medya defense areas throughout the month.

During March, the Turkish occupation army attacked our war tunnels in the Medya defense areas 11 times using chemical weapons, 9 times with prohibited weapons, and 9 times with explosive-laden drones. Additionally, resistance areas were bombed 169 times by warplanes, 98 times by attack helicopters, and 11,289 times with heavy weapons, artillery, and mortars.

Meanwhile, Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla fighters intervened 13 times to counter the occupiers’ attacks based on the principle of legitimate defense, disrupting their attempts at destruction. On March 16, 2025, our martyr Dalal Air Defense Forces shot down an Akinci drone belonging to the Turkish state, which was conducting reconnaissance and attack activities at an altitude of 9,645 meters over Qandil.

When one closely examines the attacks carried out by the Turkish army during this one-month ceasefire, it becomes evident that the force launching these attacks does not want the war to end but rather aims for its continuation. If this were not the case, it would not have launched such large-scale air and ground attacks against a force committed to a ceasefire. This highlights a deliberate stance and determination to perpetuate the war rather than end it.

Summary of the war in March:

Turkish occupation attacks:

Warplane attacks: 169 times

Attack helicopter strikes: 98 times

Chemical weapon attacks: 11 times

Explosive-laden drone attacks: 9 times

Prohibited weapon attacks: 9 times

Heavy weapon, artillery, and mortar attacks: 11,289 times

Guerrilla Forces' Response:

Counterattacks: 13 times.”
