Turkish-backed mercenaries abduct civilian in Afrin countryside

Turkish occupation mercenaries abducted the Kurdish young man Hannan Abdulrahman Shaqf during his visit to his family in the city of Shiyeh, in the countryside of occupied Afrin. The mercenaries also seized his car, while his family held the transitional government responsible for their son’s safety and for the mercenaries’ practices.

Turkish occupation mercenaries kidnapped the Kurdish young man Hannan Abdulrahman Shaqf, a native of Heikja village in the city of Shiyeh in the countryside of occupied Afrin. He currently resides in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo. The abduction took place during his visit to his family yesterday, Saturday, and was accompanied by the seizure of his private vehicle.

Local sources said that the mercenaries fabricated the charge of “possessing photos of Kurdish symbols on his personal phone” to justify the kidnapping.

They added that the young man’s family held the transitional government fully responsible for the security chaos in Afrin and for the practices of the mercenaries operating within the ranks of its Ministry of Defense.

Local sources also questioned the ability of this authority to enforce security, protection, and human rights in the region, given the repeated cases of abduction and violations against civilians.
