In a new escalation in relations between Israel and Turkey, Ankara announced that it was seeking Interpol red notices for Netanyahu and several senior Israeli officials.

Turkish Justice Minister Akin Gürlek said his ministry had asked the Interior Ministry to approach Interpol on the matter as part of a Turkish investigation into Israel's interception of an aid flotilla bound for the Gaza Strip.

According to the Turkish side, the list includes around 35 Israeli officials. Ankara said the request was based on what it described as arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court over allegations related to war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

The Turkish move comes as relations between Ankara and Tel Aviv face growing tensions, particularly over Israel's military activities in the region.

Turkey on Thursday condemned Israeli strikes in Syria and denied the presence of Turkish forces at Abu Al-Duhur airbase, which Israel targeted near Aleppo. The Turkish Defence Ministry said any Israeli military intervention in neighbouring countries should not be regarded as normal or acceptable.

Netanyahu, for his part, said the strike came after Israel determined that Syria was on the verge of violating existing security arrangements by allowing Turkish forces to deploy at an airbase near Aleppo.
