Turkey imposes royalty of $8 for each olive tree

The Turkish occupation forced them to pay $8 for each olive tree and to give up their lands. It recently tried to falsify the facts and cover up their crimes by spreading false news and claiming that what happened in the village of Kakhra in occupied Afrin was just a quarrel between two families.

On the fifteenth of this September, the residents of the village of Kakhra, affiliated with the city of Mobata in Afrin went out, led by women in a demonstration against the crimes of the occupying state and its mercenaries.

The demonstration was launched after the mercenaries of the so-called "Amshat Brigade" kidnapped a number of the villagers after they refused to pay royalties and give up their lands and properties in favor of the mercenaries. The latter launched an attack on the demonstrators, resulting in the injury of about 20 people, most of whom were women.

The Afrin-Syria Human Rights Organization reported that the mercenaries later began forcing the injured in the demonstration to waive their rights by offering them sums of money and filming them in video clips in which they talk about being injured in a quarrel between two families, in an attempt by the occupation mercenaries to falsify the facts and cover up their crimes.

Haitham Karad, the resident of the village of Kakhra, who currently lives in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo, said to ANHA Agency: "The village of Kakhra is among 366 other villages, whose people and nature are being subjected to violations and crimes by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries."

"They force the owners of olive trees to pay 8 US dollars for each olive tree. Aren't these the crippling policies followed by the mercenaries with the aim of expelling those who remain in their homes and refuse to leave them?" Haitham added.

Haitham considered the women's uprising against the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries a source of pride, calling on the villagers not to remain silent about the crimes of the mercenaries and to continue their uprising.

For her part, Molida Abdullah Suleiman stated that she was in contact with her relatives in the village before the recent events, and said that they were complaining about the mercenaries' practices.

She quoted the villagers as saying: "They ask us for huge sums of money in exchange for what we earn from our crops, but we do not have the required amount; the mercenaries of the Turkish occupation are seeking to forcibly displace us." Molida added "They are constantly threatened by the mercenaries to evacuate the house to settle their families in it." Molida was unable to check on her relatives in the village, as the mercenaries cut off communications with the village.

At the same time, Molida praised the resistance of women and their rejection of the crimes and violations of the Turkish occupation and mercenaries, and called on the organizations that claim to protect human rights to assume their responsibilities about people of Afrin.
