"Turkey expands military influence in Syria"

The Lebanese newspaper "Al-Akhbar" said in its Thursday morning edition that Turkey is expanding its military influence in Syrian territory, despite the end of the reason for which it existed.
The newspaper pointed to "Ankara's announcement of the start of the work of its military attaché in Damascus, led by Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Ghoz, in conjunction with the redeployment of Turkish forces in northern Syria, where it withdrew from some points and kept others, despite the end of the reason for which it was found there (the de-escalation agreement signed with Russia and Iran) after the fall of the former regime."

Turkey's announcement of the start of the military attaché comes in parallel with the political frictions with Iran and the mutual escalation with Israel, which fears Ankara's expansion and tries to impose a new political reality on the country.
The newspaper stressed: "Turkey's continuation of its military endeavors on Syrian territory, which includes, in addition to building a Syrian army loyal to it, the signing of agreements that allow the Turkish army to deploy in some areas of the Syrian Badia, and exploit Syrian airspace, in addition to signing an agreement for maritime demarcation that gives Turkey great freedom in the exploitation of land resources, and strengthening its control over large areas in the Mediterranean."
