truth about armed individuals operating under the name of Arab Tribes in al-Jazira

A source from the city of Tal Brak reported that armed individuals active under the name of “Arab tribes” in the southern countryside of al-Jazira are not from the area. They are the same individuals who appear in other cities and towns, raising slogans with racist and sectarian undertones.

A group identifying itself as representing the tribes of Tal Hamis, al-Yaarubiyah (Tel Kocher), al-Hol, and Tal Brak has, in recent days, been publishing videos and promotional images on social media platforms. In these clips, members appear carrying light and medium weapons, declaring their rejection of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) assuming protection duties in the countryside of al-Hasakah and Qamishlo. They also reject the agreement between the Interim Government and the Syrian Democratic Forces, while chanting slogans with sectarian and racist overtones targeting components of the region.

ANHA agency contacted several informed sources, including notables and dignitaries from the city of Tal Brak in the southern countryside of al-Jazira, to verify the authenticity of these videos and the nature of the armed group claiming affiliation with Arab tribes in the area.

According to converging testimonies, the group consists of approximately 30 armed men carrying light and medium weapons. It is the same group that moves between cities and towns, appearing in video clips as though it represents the tribes of those areas.

Sources noted that they film a clip in Tal Brak, then move to Tal Hamis, and from there to Tel Kocher, as part of repeated movements.

They confirmed that all members of the group are outsiders to the region and deliberately cover their faces when appearing publicly. They reportedly attempt at times to include two or three local residents in their videos to give the impression that the entire group is composed of people from the area.

The sources added that the filmed clips in which the group declares tribal affiliation and expresses rejection of the announced agreements are suspicious activities, raising questions among residents about who stands behind them and the true objectives of these actions.

They further indicated that the group appears only when filming videos or during limited tours, with no signs of a clear organizational structure or an organized military formation.

According to the sources, the aim of these movements is to create a state of chaos and incite discord among the components of the region.
