In the context of diplomatic efforts aimed at strengthening dialogue with European institutions, Ilham Ahmed, Co-Chair of the Department of Foreign Relations, and Rohilat Afrin, Commander of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), held two separate meetings today at the European Parliament.

They met with Hannah Neumann, Coordinator of the Greens in the Committee on Foreign Affairs, and Michael Gahler, representative of the European People’s Party (EPP) in the same committee.

During both meetings, the parties discussed the latest developments in the region, emphasizing the need to establish an effective international monitoring mechanism to oversee the integration process between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Interim Government.

They stressed that such a mechanism should guarantee the political, cultural, and civil rights of the Kurdish people, prevent violations against the region’s components, and support pathways toward a political solution.
