Top ISIS cell leader arrested in Deir ez-Zor countryside
The Internal Security Forces in the North and East Syria region have arrested the most dangerous mercenary among ISIS cells in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor. He was responsible for killings and previously involved in organizing what ISIS refers to as “suicide bombers.”
The Internal Security Forces announced in a statement that their units successfully captured a member of ISIS cells.
Regarding the details, the statement said: “Our special forces (H.A.T), in coordination with the General Security Agency, carried out a special security operation at dawn on Friday, May 16, which resulted in the arrest of one of the most dangerous members of ISIS terrorist cells in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.”
The forces noted that the mercenary is considered “extremely dangerous due to his involvement in several assassinations and in destabilizing security and stability in the region. It was also confirmed that he participated in forming 'suicide squads' during the terrorist group’s control of the area.”
The Internal Security Forces confirmed that the operation was part of a series of security measures aimed at pursuing ISIS cells and that it was carried out successfully without any casualties.
It is worth mentioning that ISIS cells have seen a significant increase in activity over the past few weeks, targeting several security points, Syrian Democratic Forces positions, and local residents, particularly in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
