Mahmoud Khalil, Deputy Commander of the Internal Security Forces in Hasakah, said that the city will receive today a group of detainees held by the Syrian Interim Government, noting that this comes within the framework of ongoing efforts aimed at ending the prisoner issue.

Khalil wrote in a post on the social media platform (X):  “In the framework of the continuous and intensive efforts carried out by our forces, and in coordination with the concerned parties, to close the prisoner file, today (300) prisoners who were captured during the recent events will be released at exactly (1:00) p.m., in the city of Hasakah – Al-Sabagh roundabout.”

He added that this step comes as part of full commitment to ending the prisoner file and strengthening social stability in the region, noting that work and coordination with all concerned parties will continue to achieve this goal.

Yesterday, ANHA agency published, citing special sources, information indicating that a new group of prisoners held by the Interim Government would be released on Thursday.

The arrival of the third group comes within the implementation of the agreement concluded between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian Interim Government, amid hopes among families that the next stages will include the release of more prisoners and the return of the remaining missing persons to their families.

The last group of prisoners that arrived in Hasakah consisted of 100 people on March 10.

This comes at a time when cities in Rojava have recently witnessed daily protests organized by families of prisoners, political activists, and representatives of civil society, condemning what they describe as delays by the Interim Government in implementing the prisoner-release clause despite the agreement signed between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Interim Government on January 29.

These prisoners are fighters who were captured while withdrawing from some positions according to the understandings reached between the Interim Government and the Syrian Democratic Forces.

The General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, had previously stated that the total number of detainees held by the Interim Government is about 1,070 people, including civilians.
