The residents of Al-Darbasiyah and its surrounding villages in Al-Jazira Canton escorted the bodies of the martyrs Amer Al-Hilal Al-Haj (Diyar Arab) and Fares Bu Omar (Jwan Sere Kaniye), who were martyred while repelling attacks by mercenaries of the interim government on 22 January in the city of Zirkan, as well as the martyr Armang Abbas (Armang Darbasiyah), who was martyred on 18 January in the city of Raqqa.

The funeral procession to the Martyr Rustem  Shrine in the village of Barkafri was attended by members of civil institutions, councils, Internal Security Forces, and youth and women’s movements.

The ceremony began with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs’ souls. This was followed by a speech delivered by Suleiman Khalil, co-chair of the Democratic Union Party office in Al-Darbasiyah, in which he referred to the attacks by mercenaries of the interim government, stating: “These attacks target the will of the peoples and aim to strike the gains achieved by the martyrs.” He reaffirmed commitment to continuing along the path of the martyrs and resistance.

In turn, Barkhodan Amouda, a member of the Amouda Military Council, pointed out that the mercenaries’ attacks and their repeated violations of agreements aim to commit massacres against the Kurdish people, as they did in Suwayda and the coastal region. He added: “But today, the Kurds are stronger than before, and no one can break their will.”

He further stated: “We pledge to continue the struggle on the path of our righteous martyrs and to resist in order to protect the region.”

The ceremony concluded with the reading of the martyrdom certificates and handing them over to the martyrs’ families, before the bodies were laid to rest amid mothers’ ululations and chants honoring the martyrs.
