The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented today the deaths of three people inside prisons run by the Ministry of Interior of the transitional government in Syria during the current month of September. These cases included detainees who were subjected to beatings and torture, leading to their deaths after being detained for varying periods.

The Observatory indicated that the deceased detainees include a citizen from Masaken Barzeh who was arrested on September 10 following a fight with a security officer and died days after his detention.

The second; A young Christian man from the village of Kafra in Wadi al-Nasara died under torture after spending 15 days in al-Balouneh Prison in Homs.

The third victim is an Alawite citizen from the Karm Shamsham neighborhood in Homs. He was kidnapped by members of the transitional government last March. The members attempted to extort money from his family, but on September 29, his body was found in al-Walid Hospital.

This brings the number of torture victims in the prisons of the "transitional government" to 59, most of them from Homs Governorate, since the fall of the former regime on December 8, 2024.
