Thousands of people demand Leader Ocalan’s physical freedom

The Martyrs' Families Council in Jazera Canton organized the march under the slogan "Freedom for Leader Apo is Our Freedom."

The march, which started from the Osman Sabri Square, saw the participation of thousands of locals, war wounded, members of civil society institutions, and representatives from the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Jazera Canton.

Participants raised pictures of Leader Abdullah Ocalan and chanted slogans such as "Long live the resistance of Imrali." Mothers and young women raised the Leader's pictures as a sign of solidarity with the demand for his freedom. The march ended with a mass gathering in front of the Mohamed Sheikho Center for Culture and Art in the city of Qamishlo.

"A historic call with deep roots extending over half a century"

After a moment of silence, the co-chairs of the Martyrs' Families Council in Jazera Canton, Massoum Hassan, delivered a speech in which he emphasized that Leader Abdullah Ocalan had struggled to build a democratic society and that he should be repaid for his efforts. He confirmed that Ocalan's call for peace and democracy is based on a historical foundation that spans 50 years, and that the Turkish state is trying to obstruct this path. He also called on the international community, including the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT), to take practical steps to end the isolation of Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

Massoum Hassan pointed out that Leader Abdullah Ocalan was the first to propose a path for peace in the Middle East, away from war and destruction. He confirmed that Leader Ocalan is striving to confront wars, displacement, and plunder through his call. He also called on the families of martyrs and the people of the region to support this path.

He made a call to the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) and relevant international bodies, urging them to take an active stance to end the isolation imposed on Leader Abdullah Ocalan and to respond to his call.
