The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), has launched the third trip under the voluntary return program to relocate residents of Al-Mahmoudli camp in al-Tabqa canton back to their original areas within inland Syria.

Today, the third trip in a series of voluntary return journeys organized by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the UNHCR set off, aiming to return camp residents in the region to their original towns and villages inside Syria.

The convoy included 28 families, totaling 133 individuals, traveling in 12 buses and 24 trucks designated for transporting their belongings to their original areas in the rural regions of Deir ez-Zor, Homs, Hama, Aleppo, Palmyra, and Daraa.

Abdul Rahim Al-Wawi, the co-chair of Al-Mahmoudli camp in Tabqa canton, stated: "Continuing the voluntary return trips, today a new convoy comprising 28 families with a total of 133 people departed, transported in 24 trucks carrying their personal belongings and 12 buses taking them back to their original regions in Homs, Hama, Palmyra , Daraa, Deir ez-Zor, and rural Aleppo."

Al-Wawi added that this trip follows previous ones, noting that the first trip took place on August 26 and included 10 buses and trucks transporting 10 families, while the second trip occurred on September 16, comprising 15 families totaling 55 individuals transported by 14 trucks and 6 vehicles.

He confirmed that after this trip, 1,062 families remain in the camp, and registration is still ongoing for camp residents wishing to voluntarily return to their original homes.

It is worth noting that Al-Mahmoudli camp is located north of Al-Tabqa city and is inhabited by displaced people from the rural areas of Homs, Hama, Aleppo, and Deir ez-Zor. According to the administration’s data, 1,062 families out of 1,368 remain in the camp, totaling approximately 6,967 displaced persons living in 1,543 tents.
