TEV-DEM's statement read:

“With the shameful, mysterious and systematic silence of the international community, and in direct coordination with the countries concerned with the Syrian issue, Afrin province was subjected six years ago to the fiercest terrorist and fascist attack launched by the Turkish fascist occupation army by air and land, with the participation of many Salafist factions and mercenaries. In its first raid, Turkey used 72 drones and warplanes, while 72 crimes were committed during the beginning of the first hours of the declared barbaric war with the aim of occupying Afrin canton, known for the beauty of its nature, geography, and moral values."

The Turkish crimes including kidnappings, rapes, murders, arrests and cutting trees from their roots and selling them in global markets have increased, on the other hand. What is more dangerous is working on a policy of systematic and ongoing demographic change in Afrin by building large settlements to settle the families of terrorists there, with direct support from the Turkish occupation and some chauvinist organizations in the region.

The indigenous people of Afrin are now living in the most difficult social and life conditions as they face the fascist Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries.

Even the displaced people of the camps in Shahba face a real humanitarian catastrophe while they are surrounded by the hammers of daily Turkish bombing and the policies of siege and famine imposed by the authority of the Damascus government as a result of the agreements concluded between the countries of the Astana group against the project of a democratic nation in NE Syria.

The repeated attacks of the fascist Turkish occupation state to target the infrastructure of NE Syria are the continuation of its policies in occupied Afrin and the revival of extremism and terrorism in the region.

We in TEV-DEM call on all components of the region, all political and national forces, civil society organizations, and women’s organizations to join hands and cooperate against the immoral crimes of the Turkish occupation state.

We also appeal to world public opinion, led by the United Nations to take bold and clear positions in condemning and denouncing these crimes and to accelerate the provision of air protection for our regions within the resolutions of international law that stipulate providing protection for local and national communities and ensuring the safe return of all displaced Syrians to their homes.”
