The Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) issued a statement today condemning the massacre committed by Turkish occupation forces through drone strikes in the countryside of Al-Shaddadi, in the Jazera Canton. The statement read:

"We condemn the massacre committed by Turkish occupation drones in the countryside of Al-Shaddadi on February 26, 2025, which resulted in 12 martyrs, including 6 civilian workers, 2 villagers from the rural areas of Al-Shaddadi, and 4 fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces.

The Turkish occupation state and its affiliated factions continue to target civilians, infrastructure, and service institutions in the region of North and East Syria, amidst the general circumstances Syria is going through, which requires a foundation for peace to rebuild the country.

We call on the international community to take urgent measures to stop the practices of the Turkish occupation state in North and East Syria specifically and in Syria in general, to end its occupation and withdraw from the occupied Syrian territories, ensuring the safe return of the displaced.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded."
