Teachers in Hasakah stage sit-in demanding unpaid salaries

Teachers in the city of Hasakah organized a peaceful sit-in today in front of the Directorate of Education building, demanding the payment of their delayed salaries.

Around 20,000 male and female teachers involved in the integration process between the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Interim Government have not received their salaries for two months.

In this context, teacher Maher Hamdo spoke about the salary payment mechanism and contracts, saying, “After the integration process, we submitted our official documents as teachers. The Interim Government paid our salary for May, but we have not received any salary after that.”

Hamdo called on the Interim Government to pay teachers’ salaries, stressing that living conditions and daily obligations have become extremely difficult, and that the salary delays have negatively affected their ability to meet basic necessities.

During the sit-in, Hasakah teachers demanded the payment of their due salaries or an explanation for the delay, similar to teachers in other Syrian provinces. They also called for their permanent appointment within the Directorate of Education’s staffing structure, describing it as a legitimate right.
