Fire breaks out near Abira Reserve

A fire broke out on Thursday afternoon near the Abira Reserve in the countryside of Jal Agha, posing a direct threat to around 4,000 trees inside the reserve, as firefighting teams, supported by local residents, continued efforts to bring the blaze under control.

A fire broke out on Thursday afternoon in the remnants of harvested crops near the Abira  Reserve, with local residents saying the blaze started at a nearby landfill before spreading toward the reserve, threatening around 4,000 forest and fruit trees.

Firefighting teams from Jal Agha were immediately dispatched to the scene, supported by crews from the Maashouq Fire Brigade in Tirbê Spîyê and local residents from Abira village, as they worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from reaching the reserve.

Firefighting operations were still underway at the time of preparing this report, with crews yet to bring the fire fully under control as efforts continued to prevent it from spreading to cultivated areas inside the reserve.
