Through a telegram marking May 1st, International Workers’ Day, the Syrian Democratic Council extended its congratulations to female and male workers, and all laborers in Syria and around the world, in recognition of their inexhaustible contributions and continuous efforts in building societies and advancing nations.

The Council noted that this day embodies the historical symbolism of the working class’s struggle for dignity, justice, and rights. It reaffirmed that labor is not merely a means of livelihood, but a profound human value, a source of dignity, and a cornerstone for development, stability, and progress.

The Council emphasized that workers in Syria have paid a heavy price amid the prolonged war that has torn the country apart. They have borne the burdens of displacement, poverty, and deprivation, and yet, they have remained at the forefront—sowing hope, creating life, and standing resilient despite the hardships and severe conditions.

The Council stated: “Out of our belief in the Syrian Democratic Council that there can be no future for Syria without the dignity and rights of its workers, we reaffirm our steadfast commitment to defend workers’ interests, supporting their legitimate struggles, and ensuring a just environment that safeguards their rights and honors their efforts—within the framework of a democratic, pluralistic, and decentralized national project that realizes social justice and upholds the value of humanity.
