Syria-Iraq Al-Qaim crossing officially reopened
The Iraqi Border Ports Authority announced the official opening of the Al-Qaim border crossing with Syria and the resumption of commercial exchange between the two countries.
In a statement, the authority noted that "the crossing witnessed the entry of the first Syrian truck after undergoing inspection and residency procedures, with commercial exchange operations being carried out on the Iraqi side of the crossing in accordance with approved regulations."
In the same context, the statement highlighted "the resumption of passenger movement through the crossing, aiming to alleviate the burden on Iraqi citizens in their travels, facilitate their return and departure, and stimulate economic activity by employing workers, truck drivers, and bus drivers."
