The support convoy organized by the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria yesterday is heading back to the coastal areas. This comes after returning yesterday, following the announcement that the fires there had been brought under control. The convoy received official thanks from the Syrian Transitional Government.

The convoy includes 150 firefighters trained to deal with large-scale fires, in addition to 18 fire engines arriving from the Euphrates, Jazira, Tabqa, and Raqqa cantons. It was accompanied by two ambulances with their crews, two fuel tankers, two bulldozers, and several service vehicles and engineering equipment necessary for firefighting operations and logistical support.

In a statement via the X platform, the Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management in the Transitional Government, Raed al-Saleh, announced today the participation of firefighting teams from Raqqa, Hasakah, and Deir ez-Zor in extinguishing the fires that have continued for the eighth consecutive day in the northern Latakia countryside. He expressed his hope for victory over this disaster facing Syrians from all regions together.

For its part, the Syrian Civil Defense pointed to the significant challenges facing firefighting teams in the Latakia forests due to the high winds that have spread the fires, causing injuries among the firefighters participating in the operations.

It is noteworthy that the coastal areas have been exposed to a wave of massive fires since July 3, which have so far burned more than 14,000 hectares of vegetation, prompting the intensification of local and regional efforts to control the fires and protect the lives of hundreds of thousands of residents. The participation of firefighting teams from North and East Syria reflects the humanitarian and national dimension that the Autonomous Administration attaches to confronting these disasters.
