Today, the people of the city of Tabqa in NE Syria went out in a rally in solidarity with male and female protesters against the policies of the Turkish authorities in Northern Kurdistan, most notably the protests of Gulemêrgê.

The rally began in front of the building of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Tabqa, hundreds of district residents, male and female representatives of the Democratic Autonomous Administration, representatives of political parties, and members of the Zenobia Women’s Gathering Council participated in the rally.

The protesters raised banners reading, "No to the Turkish occupation,"  "Long live the Kurdish Gulemêrgê resistance,"  and "Down with the Turkish occupation."

The rally included many statement on behalf of the Union of Municipalities of Tabqa, which was read by the co-chair of the Union of Municipalities, Abdul Hamid Al-Abdouli.

The statement mentioned the protests that Kurdistan and Turkish cities are witnessing against the policies of the Turkish authorities by Erdogan, indicating that it is a policy based on denial and violation of democracy in Turkey, citing the authorities’ decision to arrest the mayor and sentence him to a term of more than 19 years.

The statement denounced the measures taken by the Turkish authorities against politicians, intellectuals, and parliamentarians in Turkey, as well as their threats to the elections of NE Syria.

The statement expressed the solidarity of the peoples of NE Syrian region with the peoples in Turkey against the policies of the Turkish authorities, "The only way to end these policies is to continue resistance and insist on achieving justice and democracy."
