HEC clarifies possibility of candidates returning to their institutions after postponement

The High Election Commission in the North and East Syria region clarified that candidates for the municipal elections can return to their institutions in which they were working normally, after postponing the voting date.

Today, the High Election Commission in the North and East Syria region issued Resolution No. (6), regarding candidates who submitted their resignation within the institutions of the Autonomous Administration to run for municipal elections, which stated:

Due to the postponement of the election date in the NE Syria region, and the presence of independent candidates and political parties, and in accordance with the applicable municipal law, which requires candidates working in Autonomous Administration institutions to submit leave one month before the election date.

Therefore, accordingly, all candidates return to their institutions in which they were working normally.”

On June 6, the High Election Commission in North and East Syria postponed the municipal elections until August, in response to the desire of the political parties and alliances participating in the elections.
