In a post on X, Syrian Deputy Defense Minister for the Eastern Region Siban Hamo (Samir Oso) offered his condolences to the family of the Hasakah Brigade fighter Siban (Sami Sheikhmous Hasso), who was martyred in a brutal and treacherous crime after being abducted by an armed group. He confirmed that the relevant authorities had arrested several people involved in the crime.

Hamo noted that martyr Siban had served as a fighter in the Hasakah Brigade and had spent years defending the security of the region and its people.

Hamo condemned inflammatory media rhetoric calling for violence and killing, and urged residents of the region to remain patient, exercise restraint, and not be drawn into attempts to incite strife.

He added that the relevant authorities had arrested several people involved in the crime, while efforts were continuing to apprehend all those who participated in it and refer them to the judiciary to face a fair trial under the law.

Following the announcement of Siban’s death, thousands of residents of Hasakah province gathered in public squares to condemn the crime and demand accountability for those involved.

According to available information, Siban joined the military forces in Hasakah in mid-2014. He later joined the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and participated in military operations against ISIS and the former Syrian regime’s forces.

Following the integration agreement between the SDF and the transitional government, he joined the Hasakah Brigade, in accordance with the provisions of the January 29 agreement.
