Today, Thursday, at around 1:00 p.m., the Turkish occupation state launched an attack via a drone, during which it targeted a car belonging to the Martyrs’ Families Council near the village of Zarafka in the Tel Uzir district of Şengal District. Regarding the attack, the Autonomous Administration of Şengal made a press statement before the People’s Assembly of Sinun district, with the participation of representatives of institutions and the people of Şengal.

“We will defend ourselves and will not leave Şengal.”

Member of the Zarawafa People’s Council, Nimr Boko, announced at the beginning of the statement that the driver of the Martyrs’ Families Council’s car, Saadoun Mirza Ali, a father of three children, was martyred as a result of the attack. He said: “We say to Iraq, where is Iraq’s sovereignty in these attacks?” We say to the countries: What about your democracy? Since the genocide took place until today, attacks on Şengal continue. We affirm that we will become stronger with our martyrs. We have protected our language, religion and land for 5,000 years. We will stand until the end.”

Nimr Boko pointed out that the occupying Turkish state, which wanted to exterminate the Yazidis in 2014 with the help of ISIS mercenaries, is now continuing its attacks to exterminate the Yazidi community and added: “We are telling public opinion that we will fight until the end, and we will not leave Şengal.”

“Those who attack us are friends of ISIS.”

The co-chair of the Yazidi Freedom and Democracy Party, Majida Dakhil, also spoke in the statement and said: “They attack us every day, but we will not surrender. We will take stronger steps against attacks. We are strengthened by our martyrs. Those who attack our children in front of our homes are friends of ISIS. We strongly condemn the Turkish government and the Iraqi government. We confirm that they had a hand in this attack. We are proud of the blood of our martyrs and we will not abandon this issue.”

The co-chair of the Yazidi Freedom and Democracy Party, Majida Dakhil, also indicated that this attack occurred on the anniversary of the martyrdom of the Asayish Yazidi leader, Sherzad Shamo, and said: “We will not stop because of these attacks. We will focus more on our work and struggle than before.”
