According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, heavy machine gunfire and small arms fire have been heard in the neighborhood for the second consecutive day, amid widespread public discontent. The Observatory reports that government security forces are prohibiting the establishment of mourning gatherings for the victims, instead insisting on nighttime burials without public funeral processions—an order strongly opposed by local residents.

The four civilians were killed yesterday by Damascus government forces in Al-Da’tour. In response, security forces launched a raid in the neighborhood, deploying military vehicles, four-wheel-drive cars equipped with machine guns, and additional personnel, following directives from the Ministry of Defense.

The escalation follows an attack on a government security patrol near Al-Azhari roundabout in Lattakia, during which armed assailants engaged in a heavy exchange of fire with security forces. The confrontation was reportedly triggered by the earlier abduction of two security personnel, whose bodies were later found executed.
