Security Forces: One Killed, another injured in explosive motorcycle blast

The Internal Security Forces confirmed that one person was killed and another injured following the explosion of a booby-trapped motorcycle they were riding in al-Shaddadi city.

In a statement issued today, the Media Center of the Internal Security Forces in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria reported that the explosion occurred this morning on al-Haddadiyah bridge in al-Arisha area of al-Shaddadi. The blast resulted in the death of one rider and the injury of the other.

The statement explained:
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the motorcycle was rigged with TNT hidden beneath the engine cover on the right side, along with metal fragments packed with a flammable phosphorus-based substance.”

The statement added:
“The phosphorus material ignited unexpectedly, causing the motorcycle to explode before the planned operation could be carried out.”

It also noted that security forces immediately cordoned off the explosion site and began collecting evidence. Investigations are ongoing to determine who was behind the attempted bombing and what its intended target was.
