Areas controlled by the transitional government in Syria are experiencing a state of security chaos, frequent explosions, and fires, claiming the lives of civilians and military personnel, amid a clear lack of oversight and preventative measures.

In Damascus, a Ministry of Defense member from Kafranbel was killed and four others were injured by a machine gun explosion during a military training exercise.

In Aleppo, 14 people were injured when an ammunition depot left over from the former regime exploded in the al-Nayrab area, damaging nearby homes and creating panic. The explosion brought to mind a similar incident earlier this month in Jabrin, east of Hama, where four people were killed and nine injured.

Concurrently, a series of violent explosions rocked the 107th Brigade near Jableh in the Latakia countryside, sparking large fires. There are no confirmed reports of casualties.

This site is a frequent target of Israeli airstrikes, which recently targeted military sites in Tartus and the Latakia countryside.

Coinciding with these explosions, fires in Latakia continue for the ninth day to devour vast areas of forests and farms. The flames have reached populated villages such as Al-Shajara near Kasab, blocking roads and hindering evacuation operations. Two major forest fires have also occurred in the Hama countryside.

Amid this deteriorating situation, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights recorded the deaths of 12 people in the past 24 hours under various circumstances. These included a child killed by stray bullets, and a doctor and her assistant killed inside their home in the Al-Maliki neighborhood of Damascus. Other crimes include assassinations, tribal clashes, and domestic violence in Aleppo, Deir ez-Zor, Daraa, and the Damascus countryside.

The successive events reflect an unprecedented state of security chaos, raising serious questions about the transitional government's ability to maintain stability and ensure the safety of civilians in areas under its control.
