According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the forces carried out a violent raid on the village of Al-Zarzouriyah in western rural Homs, a village predominantly inhabited by members of the Shiite sect. The campaign included extensive arrests of young men without presenting arrest warrants or filing clear charges.

The Observatory reported that the security campaign was accompanied by serious violations, including assaults on several residents, among them women who were beaten and shot at, in addition to attempted vehicular assaults using cars belonging to the raiding forces.

This security escalation follows a series of similar raids that took place in the region yesterday, as part of what local sources describe as a systematic policy to pressure residents in preparation for forced displacement and demographic change in the western countryside of Homs Governorate.
