According to the Mezopotamya News Agency, on the one hand, preparations are underway to form a committee under the supervision and auspices of parliament to resolve the Kurdish issue. On the other hand, there is hope that the PKK will take practical steps to lay down its arms.

According to reports, Leader Abdullah Ocalan is expected to issue a direct call to guerrilla fighters. As part of this call, a group of PKK members, expected to include prominent leaders, will lay down their weapons in a symbolic ceremony.

Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş met with representatives of political parties last week to discuss the formation of the committee, and all parties are expected to submit their written proposals this week. The Social Peace and Democracy Committee aims to establish the legal basis for the "laying down arms" process and focus on taking the necessary steps toward democracy.

According to the plan, a PKK-affiliated group is scheduled to hold a "laying down arms" ceremony in southern Kurdistan as a gesture of goodwill. The ceremony will be broadcast live to the public. Representatives of political parties, civil society organizations, and the media will be invited to attend the ceremony, and the message will be "We are ready to participate in democratic political life."

Another crucial stage in this process is the meeting of the HDP delegation in Imrali with Erdoğan, which is expected to take place in the coming days. The current situation and the future of the process will be discussed.

This process is based on the historic call of the century, "Peace and Democratic Society," announced by Leader Abdullah Ocalan on February 27, which proposed an end to the armed struggle of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). In response to this historic call, the PKK decided to dissolve the organization and lay down its arms at its 12th Congress held last May. Turkey has been criticized for not taking concrete steps regarding the process.

The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) has indicated that the committee must operate on the basis of broad social consensus and that the process will continue under the leadership of Leader Abdullah Ocalan. The Republican People's Party (CHP) is also taking a positive stance toward the process, and the opposition's support for the process in parliament is considered promising.

In the coming days, the anticipated call from Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the practical steps the PKK will take will move this process into a new phase. The response to this step depends on the concrete legal and political steps taken by the government.
