Today, the Syrian Democratic Council issued a statement to the public, on the occasion of the International Day of Peace, which read:

"On the September 21, as the world celebrates the International Day of Peace, the Syrian Democratic Council stands in solidarity with all those seeking peace and justice in Syria, the Middle East and the world. This year's global event, endorsed by the United Nations, comes at a time when peace is needed more than ever, with escalating conflicts and worsening humanitarian crises in many regions of the world.

The Syrian Democratic Council, while recalling the suffering of the Syrian people over the years of war and conflict, affirms that real and lasting peace can only be achieved through a negotiated political solution among Syrians, which guarantees respect for the rights of all components and the consolidation of the values of democracy, pluralism and social justice."

And affırmed in ıts statement: "We affirm that true peace cannot be achieved without ending the Turkish occupation and regional interventions in Syria. These aggressive policies and flagrant violations only fuel conflicts and undermine the chances for genuine peace. We call on these powers to review their policies and stop using force as a means of imposing their agendas, and instead engage in constructive dialogue that respects the sovereignty of states and the right of their peoples to self-determination."

Also in the end of the statement called on: "all parties in Syria and the region to exercise historic responsibility and work sincerely to end the cycle of violence and reach a comprehensive and just political solution. The future of our peoples and future generations depends on our ability to overcome our differences and build a safer and more just world for all."
