The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Media Center issued a statement today on the occasion of Newroz, which read:

"We extend our warmest congratulations to our Kurdish people, to the Syrian people in general, and to the world on the occasion of Newroz. We also extend our congratulations to all our steadfast fighters on the borders of the homeland, guarding its security and stability. We hope that this year's Newroz will be the beginning of a new era in Syria, just as the Kurdish New Year and the beginning of spring are.

Newroz has deep meanings of resistance and peace. The Newroz flame itself represents victory over injustice and the spread of peace and security, which then becomes the property of all the peoples of the region, expressing on this day their joy at achieving freedom.

Today, we look forward to embodying the meanings of Newroz in Syria and leading it toward a bright and secure future that embraces all its people and stands... It is a day of peace, freedom, and unity, where all forms of division and conflict are banished, and where love and brotherhood, built on the foundations of justice, equality, and acceptance of others, prevail. Everyone participates in its reconstruction, and all displaced persons and refugees return to the areas from which they were displaced and expelled, and we begin to write a new history for our homeland, Syria, whose main theme is that Syria belongs to all Syrians, with no marginalization or exclusion of anyone.

Just as Newroz signifies adherence to land and homeland, we must all preserve the historical values of Nowruz, translating this into protecting our people from all threats, restoring their social cohesion and vitality, allowing them to feel safe and secure and enter a phase in which they can restore what they have lost throughout the years of the Syrian crisis.

Once again, we congratulate everyone on this Newroz, and we hope that everyone will celebrate this national holiday in an atmosphere of joy and jubilation, after a dark chapter in Syria's history has been turned, and a new page has been opened, ushering in a new era.

Happy Newroz to you all.
