SDF kills 19 mercenaries while confronting attack on eastern countryside of Deir-ez-Zor

The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces issued a statement published on its official website, in which it mentioned the details of the attack launched by the mercenaries today, on the villages and towns of Abu Hardoub and Dhiban Abu Hamam in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

It was also announced that 3 fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces were martyred while confronting the attack, and 4 civilians were martyred as a result of a mortar shell fired by mercenaries falling on a house, and 10 others were wounded.

The statement stated:

"This Sunday morning, the mercenaries of the Syrian regime and its security services launched an attack with heavy artillery, mortars, and Dushka weapons on the villages and towns of Abu Hardoub, Dhiban, and Abu Hamam. The attack left a number of martyrs, including civilians.

The mercenaries' attack began at five o'clock this morning, and from three axes, where they launched from the villages and cities of "Sabikhan, Al-Duwair and Al-Mayadin" located on the western bank of the Euphrates River, which are under the control of the Syrian regime. Under heavy artillery, mortar, and Dushka bombardment; Mercenaries tried to infiltrate and enter our areas, especially in the villages and towns of “Abu Hardoub, Dhiban and Abu Hamam” located on the eastern bank of the river.

Our forces confronted and thwarted the mercenary attack, as strong clashes broke out, resulting in the killing of 19 mercenaries, including 6 in the “Dhiban” district, and 13 others in the village of “Abu Hardoub,” and the destruction of a boat that was carrying a number of mercenaries in addition to 20 mercenaries were wounded, including the mercenary Marwan Al-Fadil, one of the officials of the regime’s “Sharqiya Lions” mercenaries. Our forces also seized quantities of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment.

In the treacherous attack; A mortar shell fell on a civilian house, killing 4 civilians, in addition to wounding ten others. 3 of our fighters also rose to the rank of martyrs during clashes with the mercenaries.

Our forces confirm that they will remain a watchful eye on the security and stability of our regions, and will not hesitate to strike with an iron fist anyone who dares to undermine the security and safety of the people and the region.”
