The SDF Media Center issued a statement today regarding the foiled ISIS attack, stating:

“Our forces, the Syrian Democratic Forces, today, Saturday, foiled a terrorist attack carried out by a cell belonging to the ISIS terrorist organization. The attack targeted one of our military vehicles in Al-Takihi village, Al-Busayrah area, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, while our forces were performing their routine duties to maintain the security and safety of the area.

Thanks to the vigilance of our fighters and their constant readiness to handle all situations, they were able to repel the attack and respond to the terrorists, resulting in a clash with the attacking group. One terrorist was killed, another injured, and the remaining attackers fled under the fire of our fighters.

Our forces seized an RPG launcher with its projectile, in addition to a motorcycle used by the terrorists during the attack.

The attack involved six terrorists riding motorcycles, armed with rifles and RPG launchers.

Following the foiling of the terrorist attack, our forces immediately launched a wide and precise sweep operation in the area to pursue the remaining members of the terrorist cell who fled along with one of their injured, and the operation is ongoing until the news is confirmed.

The Syrian Democratic Forces affirm their continued efforts to maintain and enhance security and stability in the region and will deal with any terrorist threats targeting civil peace or endangering the safety and security of civilians with full force and determination.”
