In a statement, the SDF announced that its Anti-Terror Units (YAT) dismantled an ISIS cell in the village of Al-Shanina in the countryside of Raqqa.

The statement read: "As part of its mission in counterterrorism operations, our Anti-Terror Units (YAT) of the Syrian Democratic Forces carried out a precise and well-executed security operation on Saturday, September 14, in the village of Al-Shanina, in northern Raqqa. The operation targeted the dismantling of a dangerous ISIS cell, which included two prominent leaders.

The operation was conducted with the participation and support of the International Coalition forces. Our forces were able to impose a tight security cordon around the location of the terrorist cell and called on them to surrender. However, the terrorists attempted to flee and opened fire on our fighters, prompting our forces to respond in kind. Clashes ensued, resulting in the killing of two members of the terrorist cell, identified as the ISIS leaders 'Abu Yusuf' and 'Abu Matar,' who were key leaders within ISIS and responsible for major assassination operations.

Our forces seized several weapons, military equipment, and communication tools, as follows:

1. Two AK-47 rifles.

2. One Snowball machine gun.

3. Two pistols.

4. Six hand grenades.

5. Ten AK-47 magazines.

6. One military vest.

7. One military binocular.

8. Seven smartphones.

9. Two regular phones.

10. One WIFI router.

11. Several identification and personal documents.

Our forces reaffirm that they will not allow the terrorist organization to revive itself or regroup to threaten the region's security and stability. They will continue their security and military operations against the terrorist group and eliminate all its sources to rid the region of its evil and terrorism.”
