SDF: Deir Hafir incident was traffic accident

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) stated in a statement that the incident in Deir Hafir, referred to in a previous statement, was a traffic accident between a civilian vehicle and a vehicle belonging to the military police of the transitional government factions, which was exaggerated and misleadingly described.

The SDF Media Center issued a new clarification on the accusations made by the Ministry of Defense of the transitional government about the alleged targeting of their vehicles in Deir Hafir.

The statement said:

“Following review and verification, it became clear that the incident referred to in the previous statement—on the basis of which accusations were directed at our forces by the so-called Ministry of Defense for targeting their vehicles—has no connection whatsoever to any military action.

Rather, it was a traffic accident between a civilian car and a vehicle belonging to the military police of the Damascus factions. The incident was exaggerated and misleadingly portrayed in an overt attempt to fabricate a security narrative with no factual basis.

The Syrian Democratic Forces reaffirm their commitment to restraint, adherence to existing frameworks, and their keenness not to be drawn into attempts at manufactured escalation.”
