SDF arrests ISIS cell in Deir ez-Zor

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that their TOL military operations team, in direct coordination with the International Coalition, conducted a successful security operation in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, resulting in the arrest of the ISIS military commander known as "Abo Zubair/Samak" and two members of his cell.

This was stated in a press release published by the SDF on their official website on Tuesday, which confirmed that "This operation came after meticulous monitoring of the group's movements, which proved to be one of the most dangerous ISIS networks and responsible for most of the terrorist attacks against our forces in recent months."

The statement added, "The phones seized in the terrorist and his members' pocket contained videos demonstrating their direct involvement in planning, executing, and overseeing attacks, in addition to recordings documenting the issuance of orders and the movement of cell members, as well as their management of reconnaissance and surveillance operations."

The statement revealed, "Investigations have also proven that the Emir was managing smuggling operations and communication between the organization's cells within the region and in al-Hol camp, overseeing the recruitment and training of children of the organization's families, within what is known as the 'Cubs of the Caliphate,' preparing them for future combat roles."

The statement made clear, "Information indicates that the cell received external support aimed at reactivating the organization's cells, destabilizing security, and intensifying attacks." It added that SDF units seized weapons, ammunition, and explosives ready for use, thwarting a plot the organization was preparing to execute.

The statement concluded with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) affirming that this operation "dealt a severe blow to ISIS's infrastructure in Deir ez-Zor." It comes as part of ongoing efforts "to prevent the organization from regrouping or threatening the region's security." It also emphasized that "the elimination of the military Emir and his cell is a significant achievement that limits ISIS's capabilities." The forces reiterated their commitment to continuing to pursue all cells in coordination with the International Coalition until the region is cleared of terrorism, and security and stability are ensured in Deir ez-Zor and throughout North and East Syria.
