SDC calls for building pluralistic, democratic Syria on 7th anniversary of AANES

In a statement released today, the SDC congratulated all Syrians on the seventh anniversary of the establishment of the AANES, noting that the experience of the Administration has enshrined the will of the region’s communities in managing their own affairs and building a democratic model that reflects the aspirations of Syrians for freedom, dignity, and stability.

The statement read:

“The Autonomous Administration experience was launched through a joint initiative of all the region’s communities, Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, Assyrians, Armenians, Turkmen, Circassians, and others of various ethnic and religious components, in a historic step that embodied the will for coexistence and the preservation of diversity. This initiative came as a political and social response to the challenges of the time, filling the existing vacuum by establishing a system of local governance that reflects the people’s will and expresses their aspirations.

After the sons and daughters of North and East Syria made great sacrifices in confronting terrorist organizations, foremost among them ISIS, the Autonomous Administration emerged as an institutional framework that proved capable of protecting society, organizing its affairs, and consolidating the principles of democracy, participation, and gender equality, becoming a unique model in Syria that can serve as the foundation for any comprehensive national solution.

Over the past seven years, the Autonomous Administration has achieved tangible progress in strengthening stability, establishing civil, judicial, and administrative institutions, and ensuring broad participation of women and youth in decision-making positions. At the same time, it has continued efforts to combat terrorism and confront extremism, making it a cornerstone in the battle to safeguard Syria, its security, and its future.

As the SDC commemorates this anniversary, it reaffirms its firm commitment to continue the struggle for a comprehensive Syrian-Syrian political solution based on democratic and decentralized foundations that guarantee equality and justice for all citizens. In this context, it calls on all Syrian national forces to unite and engage in serious dialogue to build a new Syria that is pluralistic, democratic, safe, and just.”
