School year kicks off in NE Syria

Schools in North and East Syria opened their doors today, marking the start of the new school year. 713,554 students, distributed across 3,647 schools, are enrolled, supervised by 35,513 teachers.

Schools in the North and East Syria region began welcoming students today.

According to the Education Body in the North and East Syria region, the number of students this year has reached 713,554, distributed across 3,647 schools, supervised by 35,513 teachers who have undergone intensive educational, teaching, and qualification training courses.

Administrative work in schools began on September 7, in preparation for welcoming students and providing a suitable educational environment for a strong start to the school year.

The education system in the region relies on modified curricula taught in three main languages: Kurdish, Arabic, and Syriac. This takes into account the specificities and cultural diversity of each region and reflects the linguistic diversity and societal identity of the population of North and East Syria.

This educational approach reflects the educational authorities' commitment to promoting cultural and linguistic pluralism and providing comprehensive education that meets the aspirations of local communities in the region.
